The Principal Project Manager (Waters) is a key member of the team making a positive impact on the district's future. The role includes design, consultation, procurement and managing the construction resources for what will likely be the district's most complex civil infrastructure projects.
About the role
This role will provide functional team leadership to our project managers who primarily deliver Waters related projects. You will support the Programme Manager with the pastoral care of those same project managers.
You will have 10+ years' experience as a civil engineer successfully delivering infrastructure projects, who is also keen to pass on your expertise and knowledge to less experienced project managers. If this sounds like you, then this role may well be a good fit!
Other key responsibilities include:
Technical oversight of current Waters based projects being delivered through the Project Delivery team.
Project planning and delivery aligned to our project management framework.
Procurement of resources through both design and construction phases.
Financial management throughout the project life to approved budgets.
Community and key stakeholder engagement.
About you
We are looking for a suitably qualified chartered civil engineer who has experience in acting as engineer to the contract.
Ideally, you will also have some relevant project management training/qualifications and demonstrable experience in successful project delivery. You should also have:
Current, Full driving licence.
In-depth knowledge of the Resource Management and Public Works Acts.
Previous experience in community consultation in NZ including iwi consultation.
Previous experience in the Project Management of community-based projects in NZ.
Robust knowledge of the Local Government environment in NZ and of the Local Government Act.
