Mo tenei turanga mahi| About this role Press Secretary - Office of Hon Nicola Willis Fast paced environment Help communicate the policies and initiatives of the Government Unique opportunity | Based on site at Parliament The Opportunity: Hon Nicola Willis, Minister for Finance, Minister for Public Service, Minister for Social Investment and Associate Minister of Climate Change is seeking a motivated and engaging Press Secretary to join her team. This role will support the Minister, the Senior Press Secretary and her team to ensure that all media communications from the Minister's office are consistent with the agreed priorities and messages of the Government. Working in the heart of the government, you will join a tight knit and trusted team. As a Press Secretary you will be working closely with the Senior Press Secretary in providing a range of media communications support to Hon Willis and her team. Some tasks that you will lead are: Developing and distributing press releases and speeches Maintain and develop the Minister's online presence Respond to media enquires Prepare briefings for the Minister Monitoring relevant media coverage This is an events-based position based on a 3-year parliamentary term.Depending on the skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role will determine what level role they will be offered. The salary range for Press Secretary Level 1 and 2 ranges from $85k - $120K What skills or experience would I need to be successful? You will have media, communications, or journalism experience looking for a unique and meaningful role in a Minister's office. If you can bring some of the below, we would love to hear from you! Media, communications or journalism experience Well-developed communication skills, with excellent written language skills and the ability to analyse, understand and convey complex information in a simplified form Highly developed interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to relate to and gain the confidence of the Minister and a wide range of stakeholders A passion for politics and a desire to build your career in the heart of government A good sense of humour with the ability to have a laugh and work both closely with your team and autonomously as needed An ability to work and problem solve at pace, with maturity and a high level of resilience An understanding of the machinery of government, OIAs, and Written or Oral Parliamentary questions would be advantageous Interested?
