The Role: Pou Tikanga MHAOD The primary purpose of this role is to provide cultural knowledge, advocacy, support and expertise, and undertake cultural assessments where appropriate, for Tangata Whaiora and their whanau. The role will deliver supports in a way that increases and strengthens resilience of Maori in their identity and knowledge of Tikanga Maori using a Kaupapa Maori framework to promote wellness and recovery to ensure the best health outcomes are achieved for Tangata Whaiora who are experiencing mild to moderate mental health and/or addiction issues This role will also ensure that service delivery incorporates Kaupapa Maori practices that are inclusive of Whanau Ora best practice principles. Apply the principles of Te Tiriti of Waitangi by demonstrating practical application of Te Tiriti of Waitangi in everyday workUsing Te Reo Maori appropriately, and adhering to tikangaUse an equity lens over all work to ensure it contributes to improved health outcomes for Maori and other priority populations by demonstrating a commitment to improving Maori health equityWhat You Bring Professional Registration: Relevant Tertiary Qualification within the Health Sector of Level 7 or higher or Registered Practitioner in DAPAANZ or equivalent Any Health Sector tertiary qualification exceeding or equivalent to those listed aboveCultural Competence: An understanding of and commitment to tikanga Maori given the majority of employees are Maori as are the clients of the TrustAbility to confidently engage on a Marae with both kaimahi and or the beneficiaries of the Trust (e.g. AGMs are held on our Ngati Hine Marae.Tech Savvy: Proficient in computer skills.Problem Solver: Excellent decision-making and problem-solving abilities.Customer Focus: A professional attitude with great customer service skills and attention to detail.Experience: A minimum of 2 years relevant experience in mental health and addictions, Experience of inter sectorial partnership workingTraining: Training and experience in Maori Cultural Models of practice, with knowledge and experience of issues for Maori effected by mental health and addiction issues.
