Ko ta matou mahi | Our role The portfolio manager will provide leadership, direction, support, and monitoring performance for a team of project managers and engineers, support staff, engineering consultants, and contractors. You will ensure that the projects within your portfolio meet schedule, cost, quality, and customer targets by managing communications, establishing connections, and coordinating with both internal and external stakeholders.
Excellent planning, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential for this role, since you will serve as an escalation point, managing risks, ensuring that every situation is handled in a way that meets Vector's standards for safety and quality and providing regular reporting of project progress. This role is responsible for ensuring that team members are meeting performance KPIs. You are the driving force behind improving processes and relationships within the team, streamlining procedures as necessary and looking for ways to increase efficiency and effectiveness across all activities. You are responsible for promoting a culture of continuous process improvement.
We are looking to fill three portfolio manager roles:
Primary Assets: The portfolio covers upgrades or construction of new zone substations, including HV switchgear, power transformers, secondary systems, and building infrastructure.
Distribution Assets: The portfolio covers the installation of distribution switchgear including RMUs, distribution transformers, overhead switchgear, DERs, and new technology assets.
Connection Assets: The portfolio covers the installation of 11kV overhead conductor and underground cable distribution infrastructure, and 22kV to 110kV overhead conductor and underground cable sub transmission infrastructure.
Te hunga e kimihia ana e matau | Who we are looking for You'll have a wealth of engineering and leadership experience, preferably with a bachelor's degree in a related field. Demonstrate an alignment with Vector's behaviours and vision for a new energy future. Proven experience in managing electrical and/or civil construction projects. Experience managing and leading a diverse team and range of projects. 10 years plus of professional project management experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage with people at all levels within the business. Highly effective stakeholder management skills – able to establish, build, and maintain effective working relationships. Strong financial and commercial acumen allowing pragmatic decision-making to enable successful delivery of projects to stakeholder expectations. Be self-organised with a high degree of personal accountability. Excellent problem-solving, able to identify and resolve issues.
