About this fixed term, part-time role As a skilled and enthusiastic part-time Reporter, you will play a key role in connecting with our community, researching local stories, and delivering accurate and compelling content that reflects the heart of our people and place.
What you'll do • Researching, writing, and editing articles on local news, events, initiatives and features.
• Building strong relationships with community members, organisations, and stakeholders.
• Collaborating with the editorial team to align content with our strong values and community focus.
• Conducting interviews with a diverse range of community members and stakeholders.
What we're looking for For this part-time, fixed-term role, you'll have strong writing skills and a genuine passion for storytelling that is connected with our people and land.
You'll have the natural ability to connect with diverse communities and build relationships that deepen your storytelling.
You'll know your way around camera equipment in order to capture high-quality images that compliment those stories.
You'll be driven to deliver high-quality work on time and to deadlines, as well as understanding the importance of effective communication in a small team.
Previous journalism or reporting experience is preferred – we would consider a writing or communications background as well.
The right attitude for our small team who are geared up to grow the Wairoa Star is a must.
You need to have a full NZ Driver's License as this role will be out and about in the community.
