Location: Masterton, New Zealand Te Whatu Ora Wairararapa provides comprehensive health services throughout the Wairarapa District, with its base being the Hospital in Masterton. Other services are currently supplied by visiting specialists, including ophthalmology. The hospital also provides student teaching facilities for the University of Otago. The Wairarapa region offers a fantastic lifestyle for all, with quality schools, a strong community spirit, great beaches and rivers, world-class vineyards, mountain ranges, and rivers—this is a place you can call home. The Hospital is based in Masterton and is within two hours from Wellington. Daily rail services link Wairarapa with the Wellington region, including the International Airport and Inter-Island ferry connections. Working at Te Whatu Ora Wairarapa, you will become part of an enthusiastic, dynamic, and committed team of health workers providing a modern and innovative approach to healthcare, with the bonus of a healthy balanced lifestyle and opportunities for professional development. Te Whatu Ora Wairarapa has traditionally had an outsourced ophthalmology service; however, we would like to provide greater continuity of services for our community and wish to bring this service in-house. As a sole practitioner at Wairarapa, you will be committed to ensuring you are linked closely to colleagues within our sub-region to maintain a high level of competence. This is a full-time position, working 80 hours per fortnight. Applicants must be eligible for Vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council. We are committed to clinical excellence in all disciplines, and Senior Medical Staff are encouraged to take part in clinical audits and peer reviews to ensure quality clinical care is provided. If you are interested in this rare opportunity, with a great work/life balance and the chance to bring your expertise to a community that would benefit greatly from having a full-time Ophthalmologist in their area, please apply online and attach an up-to-date copy of your CV for consideration.
