The Opportunity
The Legal team at the Otago Regional Council is on the lookout for an Official Information & Legal Support Advisor to join them on a permanent, full or part-time basis in our Dunedin office. The purpose of the role is to provide effective, high-quality administrative and technical support to the ORC's Legal Counsel.
As an Official Information & Legal Support Advisor, you will be responsible for:
Providing advice and assistance with procurement as well as drafting contracts
Building relationships with staff to understand departmental needs and provide support with compliance
Efficient and accurate administrative support to Legal Counsel
Coordinating and responding to LGOIMA and Privacy Act requests

About You
Our ideal candidate will have:
Experience providing legal support in a complex environment
An understanding of local government legislation and/or procurement processes
Ability to plan, prioritise and meet deadlines, combined with great attention to detail
Confidence in providing training to staff on compliance responsibilities
A Bachelor of Laws or a related subject or Legal Executive Diploma is preferred but not essential
High School qualifications to year 13 is essential, along with experience working with databases and computers, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work in a complex environment and deal with ambiguity.
