Northern Registrar 6 Months Fixed-Term

This fixed term Registrar position will be working with the Collection Advisor to improve conditions, documentation and access to stored collections in Northland. Based in Kerikeri, the role includes relocating items to a new storage space, cataloguing, digitisation and rehousing collections, and reorganising existing storage areas, ensuring professional museum standards are met.The position would suit someone with a strong background in collection management including documentation, packing, handling and environmental requirements, as well as the ability to work effectively and independently within time constraints.Key Responsibilities:Contribute to planning and organising new storage fit outOversee collection pest treatment programmeOversee and undertake collection packing and transportComplete collection location and condition auditingCataloguing and digitisation of previously unrecorded NZHPT heritage objectsCompetencies and Attributes:3+ years' experience in collection care and documentationExperience in handling, packing and transportation and storage of a wide range of museum objects, to professional museum standards.Collection location and condition auditing experienceKnowledge and experience of Vernon CMS or similar collection management databaseExcellent planning and organisational skillsA tertiary qualification in Museum Studies is desirable.Must be able to work independentlyAccuracy and attention to detail importantExcellent organisational and time management skillsApplications close at 5pm 2 December 2024The salary range for the position is $60,959-$71,717How to apply:For more information about the role and how to apply, please refer to our website: heritage.org.nz.
