Night Awake Support Workers

We are looking for Night Owls who have a passion for making a difference in their communities.
A caring and compassionate nature will be an asset in providing a homely and supportive environment for tangata to live full lives.
There are two full-time vacancies; however, we will consider applications from those candidates who are looking for part-time opportunities.
Hours vary between sites, but as a guide, they will be between the hours of 21:30 and 08:00 and will cover shifts on certain days between Monday - Sunday.
All shifts require some degree of weekend work.
About The Role | Mo Te TungaOur Night Awake Support Workers contribute to tangata recovery by: Ensuring our service users' needs are met in clean, tidy premises.Preparing food and ensuring nutritional meals are available as required.Understanding the need for providing personal cares and support as required.Assisting other night staff.Providing cover for staff when they are off site and/or on leave.Undertaking home checks and shift planning as required.Completing cleaning tasks and maintenance of allocated houses and sites.Attending to any urgent client needs through the night.Preparing the homes for day shift.We are seeking an experienced person who is passionate about the sector and is proficient in providing support for our tangata: You will have a compassionate and caring nature with good verbal and written communication skills.A Health & Wellbeing Certificate (L4) or other relevant qualification or working towards it.A willingness to commit to and support the bicultural journey that Stepping Stone Trust is on as we live out our partnership under Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.The ability to understand boundaries and why they are important in our work environment.The skills and aptitude to follow care plans provided by specialists.An understanding of working alongside tangata who are neurodiverse and/or have a head injury.Strong organisational and prioritisation skills in managing your varied workload.Possess the ability to work independently or as part of a team.An intermediate level of computer literacy.Knowledge of/experience implementing the Medico Alpaca medication system and/or current medication competency and experience with SST patient record management.A full, clean New Zealand driver's licence.We would also appreciate applications from those who have their own lived experience of mental health conditions with a proven recovery journey, which gives you the ability to connect and understand someone else's worldview.
While experience working in the mental health sector is preferred, SST provides training and mentoring to gain knowledge and experience, supported by our senior team.
