Mount Albert Grammar School is looking for a suitable and qualified person to be the head coach of our Premier Netball Team in 2025. Netball has had a strong history at the school where a number of former students have gone on to play for ANZ Franchises and Silver Ferns as well as various international teams. The Premier Netball Team regularly competes in the Auckland Secondary Schools Premier Secondary Schools Competition, Auckland Club, UNISS, and the New Zealand Secondary Schools Championships.
Person Specifications:Strong communicator and people skillsExperience in managing people and implementing programmesBuilds and maintains effective working relationshipsA team leader with the ability to give clear direction to othersOrganised and able to share information readilySelf-motivated and able to report effectively both in written and oral formResponsibilities will include:Coaching the team throughout the College Sport Season and at the Regional & National TournamentSelect management and the coaching teamSelect a panel of selectors to attend the trials and select the playing squad for the seasonPresent a vision and plan that resonates with the "MAGS WAY" and the school's aspirations to management, players, and whanau at group meetingsPreparing the team in trainings, camps, establishing Individual & team goals to play in competitionPlan the season which includes a focus on individual skills and team tactical variety and developmentEffectively build and maintain long-term networks and relationships i.e. Director of Netball, Director of SportsLiaising with the sports department on any team updates and organisational needsWorking within the school and competitions rules and regulationsQualifications:Inspire our students to drive their own development and pathwayA strong knowledge of netball through playing and/or coaching experienceAn ability to relate to teenagersAn ability to develop a strong team culture relating to the MAGS wayThe successful candidate will need to commit to at least 2 or 3 trainings a week starting in January 2025, with planning for the season in December 2024. The coach also will need to be available for all pre-season and competition games starting in April, as well as for the UNISS Regionals in September and the Secondary School Nationals being held in October.
