As a Medical Receptionist, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring our clinics operate smoothly and efficiently, supporting our clinical teams in delivering outstanding patient care.
Local Doctors Weymouth provides comprehensive urgent and general medical care to the Manurewa community since 2007. We offer flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, ensuring you can get the help you need after work or school. Our ACC-accredited clinic handles everything from minor injuries to long-term health issues, with services including plastering, suturing, asthma treatment, and more. We also provide regular screenings, immunizations, and minor surgical procedures. Conveniently located on Browns Road with on-site x-ray, dental, pharmacy, and physiotherapy services, our ethnically diverse team speaks multiple languages and is committed to serving our diverse community. Visit us 7 days a week, 8am-8pm, and experience quality care tailored to you and your whanau.
WORKING HOURS:
The clinic is open from 8 am to 8 pm Monday to Sunday. The Medical receptionist will be required to work full-time across these operational hours on a 5-day roster per week.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reception Professionally greet and assist patients and visitors.
Efficiently manage patient flow.
Handle phone calls, messages, and appointments accurately.
Provide courteous assistance and escalate inquiries when necessary.
Keep patients informed about wait times and emergencies.
Monitor and promptly address patient needs in the waiting room.

Accounting Accurately handle patient invoices and claims.
Process payments and manage banking tasks.
Complete various forms and maintain document accuracy.

Privacy and Security Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to security protocols.

Comply with all health and safety procedures and protocols.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:
Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge
Post-secondary qualification (Desirable).
Experience in medical reception or administration (Desirable).
Customer service background, Kiwi Host or similar training (Advantageous).
Excellent customer service, communication, and numerical skills.
Experience with cash handling and payments.
Experience working in fast-paced and high-demand environments.
Personal Attributes

Demonstrates empathy, tolerance, and understanding, especially with distressed patients.
Effective time management and adaptability.
Strong interpersonal skills, negotiation, conflict management, and problem-solving abilities.
Someone committed to health equity and cultural competency and can demonstrate an understanding of Tikanga Maori, Kawa Maori, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Other Requirements
Proof of legal right to work in New Zealand (Essential).
NZ Driver's license (Desirable).
