About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an exceptional Medical Laboratory Scientist to join the Blood Transfusion team within our new state-of-the-art facility at Whangarei Hospital. The primary function of this role is to contribute as an effective member of the team, to provide a quality & safe pathology service that ensures timely, accurate results to pathology laboratory users.
You will participate in the receipt, documentation, registration, processing and reporting of all specimens, including those referred to other laboratories, as required by authorised policies and protocols. You will be responsible for ensuring work is appropriately prioritised and is performed conforming to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), IANZ and NZBS requirements.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position, working 40 hours per week from early September 2024 until late August 2025.
Key requirements
Essential
New Zealand Registered and licenced Medical Laboratory Scientist with eligibility to work in New Zealand
Work experience in a Medical Laboratory
Work experience with Laboratory Information system
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a team member to produce effective work output and quality
Desirable
Specialist and/or IT qualifications
Proven ability to rapidly learn new knowledge and skills.
Previous experience within a Healthcare setting
