Mate / Mate Trainee - Tugboat

The Mate is second in command, standing the watches opposite the Captain.
When on watch, the Mate is in control of the tugboat and barge, and follows the directives of the Captain.
The directives are standing orders for the safe conduct of the vessels at all times.
Directives may be from the company's operations manual or verbal orders that the Captain and Mate have agreed upon.
Graduates with a 3rd Mates license can be placed in a Mate Trainee position.
