Marlborough Transport System Manager at New Zealand Transport Agency, Nelson - MarlboroughKaitiaki of the Marlborough region's transport networkBe a leader for a team focussed on delivering transport solutions in maintenance and operationsExciting and diverse role to lead a dynamic team based in BlenheimTe Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity As Marlborough System Manager you will lead the Marlborough Roads team (a joint venture between NZTA and Marlborough District Council) to deliver a wide range of transport related activities, with main focus being on maintaining the local roads and highway networks to an appropriate level of service.
As the Manager of the Marlborough Roads entity, your role will be to ensure that NZTA and Marlborough District Council's transport assets are maintained in good order, that you build on existing strong partner and stakeholder relationships and motivate suppliers to deliver high quality results. You will require a strong customer focus to ensure that issues that arise are dealt with in a timely and appropriate manner, and that the broad range of activities carried out by the Marlborough Roads team are communicated effectively.
This is a great opportunity for you to continue a career in managing a transport system that provides key lifelines and linkages across the South Island, in a thriving region such as Marlborough. You will lead a team covering a diverse range of activities - active modes, planning & associated land use development, day-to-day maintenance and management of the transport network along with parking and ancillary works required by Council to maintain their community transport requirements. To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:
Extensive technical and practical experience in roading networks, asset management, and/or civil engineering or similarStrong relationship management and collaboration skillsExperience at dealing with complex and sensitive issues in a political environmentExperience working across central and local government would be advantageousSolid knowledge and understanding of delivering best value solutions and financial acumenExperience in an emergency reinstatement and preventative maintenance applicationsTech savvy, including a high level of skill in Microsoft based programs e.g. ExcelNZ Driver's Licence (or equivalent) is requiredKo wai matou | About us Transport Services is an end-to-end business group that focuses on our transport system - from policy and planning, through design and delivery, to maintenance and operations.
