HITO is the driving force behind apprenticeships in Hairdressing, Barbering and Beauty Therapy. They develop and support apprenticeship and on-job training qualifications for career and business success, and their vision is for 100% of people in their industries to be 100% New Zealand qualified.
Reporting to the Executive Director and supported by two direct reports (Lead Graphic Designer and Marketing, Social Media and Events Coordinator), you will be responsible for delivering on the execution of all HITO's marketing and communication functions.
This is a hands-on role and some of your key responsibilities include:
Developing and implementing marketing and communications activities, collateral, training materials and events that support the brand and acquisition of sales
Writing for and managing communication channels, including the website, social media and newsletters
Creating and implementing engaging social media campaigns and marketing collateral
Working with the Graphic Designer to develop the brand, and to design and print marketing and training materials to support HITO programmes
Relationship management with key suppliers
This is an excellent development opportunity for someone with three to five years of experience in a marketing and/or communications role looking to take the next step in their career and develop some team leadership experience.

The ideal start date for this position will be early March, or sooner, for a handover with the incumbent, who is due to go on maternity leave in April, however they're not adverse to someone starting earlier.
Person Profile:
Creative, innovative, practical and pragmatic
Knowledge of all aspects of digital communication and social media
A confident communicator with the ability to write in plain English and adapt your style to different audiences
Strong copy writing skills and a passion for developing fresh and engaging content
Ability to build effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
Event planning and organising skills and experience
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to self-manage, and to prioritise and manage time effectively
A sense of humour and positive, collegial attitude
A sound knowledge of MS Office, Adobe suite and social media
Experience in a team leadership role would be advantageous, as would experience in an education and training setting, but is not a necessity
