The roleReporting to the Supervisor, you'll walk the safety talk and be responsible for directing a team of people to manage and deliver work safely, positively, effectively, and efficiently, also provide technical support, scoping, and planning assistance as required. The work is varied, and you'll be an integral part of a field-based team. You'll be accountable to:Play a key part in the construction and maintenance of electrical lines and underground cables to customer requirementsProvide day to day supervision and promote utilisation and productivity within your teamComplete WTC competency assessments as requiredPerform competent audits and quality checksEnsure plant and equipment are compliant, in test, in good working order and fit for purposeWork with the supervisor/management to plan and agree on work/job objectivesScope and price a job effectively and identify environmental and other influencing factorsWhat's in it for you?A role with us will enable you to work within a diverse and collaborative team and a very supportive leadership team. You will have a natural flair for leading a team, building and maintaining effective customer relations, be a self-motivator, and take initiative where needed. To be successful in this role, you will also have:Current NZ EWRB Practicing licence (Line Mechanic) is essentialNZ Certificate or overseas qualification equivalent to Level 4 (required to work on the Vector Network) or relevant trade qualificationAt least five years' solid experience under your belt with knowledge of electrical principlesA valid Class 2 driver's licence is essential, Current HT Class 4 licence would be an advantageAbility to organise and plan own workload and the workload of others to achieve resultsDemonstrated leadership skills to coach and guide a teamStrong safety focus with a consistently excellent record on quality standards; pro-actively promote a safety culture in line with legislation and company proceduresA great work attitude and comfortable being a part of a diverse team in a multicultural environmentGood communication skills (verbal and written)Enjoy working in team environments, yet able to work self-directedCurrent Work Place Competency (WTC)'s as required by the roleAbout usNorthpower is an electricity and fibre network provider for Whangarei and Kaipara, with more than 60,000 connected customers.Northpower is one of the largest multi-utility contractors in New Zealand, servicing the needs of clients in transmission, distribution, generation, fibre, renewables, and commercial sectors.
