We offer a stimulating teaching, research and professional working environment in one of our three campuses: our beautiful main campus in Whakatane, Tamaki Makaurau (Auckland) and Te Tai Tokerau (Northland). We are looking for a full time Lecturer to recruit students and then deliver the Te Aka Putaiao programme (Certificate in Environmental Studies) commencing in Semester 2 (July 2024).This programme provides students with a broad range of skills and knowledge to examine traditional and contemporary models of science relating to the environment. The level five programme is delivered mixed mode with online weekly classes and four scheduled onsite noho at our Whakatane or Tamaki Campus sites. The students for this programme may come from various locations across the motu. Therefore travel to Whakatane or Tamaki campus for noho delivery is a requirement. The successful applicant will have;A minimum of a relevant degree in science or environmental studiesTeaching qualification. Applicants currently studying toward a teaching qualification are encouraged to apply.Relevant teaching experience.Experience within the field of Matauranga Taiao and/or contemporary scienceExperience in the delivery of the prescribed course and programmes; 1. Whanaungatanga – Effective Relationships through Communication, 2. Kaitiakitanga – Traditional and Contemporary Kaitiaki Roles, 3. Pukengatanga - Traditional and Contemporary Practices and Solutions, 4. Rangatiratanga - Environmental Aspirations and Needs of whanau, hapu and iwiKnowledge of tikanga Maori, and at least intermediate level Te Reo Maori skillsNetworks with relevant marae, iwi, hapu and/or community groupsAble to travel to Whakatane or Tamaki Campus to deliver four scheduled noho.We offer a supportive working environment and welcome candidates from all backgrounds to apply.
