Freyberg High School is a co-educational state secondary school, Y9-13, located in Palmerston North with a roll of approximately 1,100 students dedicated to providing a supportive and inspiring learning environment for all students. We pride ourselves on our diverse and inclusive community, fostering a culture of respect, academic excellence and personal growth.
Freyberg High School is establishing a flexible vocational hub, to commence in term 1 2025, to enable senior students to engage in a range of valuable and personally relevant learning opportunities which sit outside regular timetabled classes.
The role of lead teacher vocational hub will suit a person with a proven ability to work with senior secondary school students, a working knowledge of NCEA, vocational pathways and local employment possibilities, and the ability to innovate and problem-solve to facilitate student transitions out of secondary school.
As lead teacher, you will connect with each student, develop and support their individual learning programme, build a communal sense of learning and progress amongst the group whilst acknowledging their diverse pathways, and liaise closely with caregivers.
The lead teacher will have familiarity with secondary school processes, the ability to work collegially with others in the pathways, guidance and pastoral teams, and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
The terms and conditions of employment will be those set out in the Secondary Teachers' Collective Agreement.
