We are looking for a talented, experienced software developer who can take the next step by combining their technical expertise with leading a small development team.
Overview:
As a Lead Developer, you will be responsible for driving the technical vision of our LocalMaps Product, leading a small team of talented developers, and working closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deliver the next versions of this application.
The LocalMaps Application is a powerful web application for viewing, querying, and reporting an organisation's spatial data including flexible deployment options, data integration, and cloud deployments. LocalMaps provides internal and/or public-facing Web GIS needs to over 50 NZ organisations.
Responsibilities & Main activities:
Research, Design, Testing, and Coding of the LocalMaps application.
Producing development and deployment focused Documentation and Training for the application.
Assist support and maintenance of LocalMaps installations.
Develop and maintain DevOps pipelines and deployment tools for the application.
Manage cloud infrastructure required to support development of the application.
Assist in sprint and release planning.
Mentor and train other developers working on the application.
Review development on the application to ensure code quality and security best practices are followed.
Keep up to date with software industry trends as a whole and apply these to the development of the LocalMaps application.
Research, Design, Testing, and Coding of other applications as required.
Maintaining programmed applications and enhancing/modifying as required.
Mentoring: Provide mentorship to others in the team including those entering Eagle Technology through GALoP-X and the Graduate programme.
Key Skills:
Developed skills in an object-oriented backed development framework such as Java or C#/.NET Core.
Developed skills in frontend development using JavaScript/TypeScript.
Developed skills with frontend frameworks such as React or Vue.
Familiarity with automated build and deployment tools such as Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
Familiarity with cloud services such as AWS or Azure.
Familiarity with containerization.
Awareness of UX and UI Design principles.
Some skills with administering Windows Server and with using Linux.
Developed or developing skills and knowledge of one of the major relational database packages such as PostGres, Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase or DB2.
Solid written and verbal technical communication skills.
Additionally, experience with and knowledge of Esri ArcGIS platform would be a bonus but not essential.
Required Experience:
3-4 years' experience designing and developing small to medium scale backend and frontend web applications ideally with DevOps and Cloud experience. Completed tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
