We seek a mentor who has the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and cultural competencies that enable you to form strong relationships with the students, whanau and school staff you will work collaboratively with. You will be a key component of Te Hononga, Check and Connect - a one-year mentoring initiative for akonga/students who are in the early stages of disengaging from school.
You will work with a small group of students (15-20 maximum) and you will meet weekly with individual students to set and achieve learning-focused goals for each student's success and engagement at Northland College. This position requires initiative and a self-starting individual who values effective relationships with whanau and akonga. You will co-construct individual plans with and for akonga to support their engagement in learning at Northland College.
You will be supported by a Co-ordinator and a Supervisor.
Applicants must have relevant experience such as youth mentoring, social work or a teaching background.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position starting 28 January, 2025.
