This position is responsible for supporting the Assessment and Brief Care Team (ABC) when called out to a mental health crisis assessment in the community, the wider hospital, and at the police station.
ABC delivers client-focused care and support for people living with mental health and/or addiction challenges within the Taranaki region.
This position involves collaborating with registered nurses and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive support and uphold best practice in mental health care.
The person will work under the direction and delegation of registered nurses within the ABC team.
The position aims to achieve the following: Support the assessment of Tangata Whaiora/consumers experiencing psychological distress.
Engage with the whanau of people affected by mental health challenges to identify needs and supports required.
Provide culturally appropriate care that is sensitive to the diverse backgrounds of Tangata Whaiora/consumers.
Understand and apply the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi in practice.
We are currently advertising 2 x 0.93FTE rostered Kaiawhina positions.
Minimum Requirements: Must have a current full NZ drivers' license.
A relevant qualification in mental health support or a related health field (For example: Level 4 National Cert in Mental Health Support Work or working towards it).
Life or lived experience.
Experience in crisis intervention or support is desirable.
