Mo teneimahi (About this job)We are looking for an experienced rongoapractitioner who is eager to share their knowledge with others and to supportthe delivery of our Rongoa Maori programme.
This permanent, full-time (hours per week) role starts in January 2025.The Certificate in Rongoa programme focuseson the protocols and customs of rongoa, aiming to develop an understanding ofthe Maori worldview.
As the Kaiako of this programme, you will bring bothextensive experience in rongoa practice and previous teaching experience.Mou (About you)The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge and experience inthe origins, cultural principles, and practices of rongoa Maori, includingindigenous plant species (identification, classification, health & safety,and kaitiakitanga).
You will be adept at implementing methodologies that caterto diverse student learning styles and have experience with traditional Maorihealing methods or other relevant work related to Rongoa Maori.Ideally, you will hold a Diploma in Rongoa Maori or Hauora Maori (or anequivalent qualification) and an adult teaching qualification or be committedto obtaining these qualifications.
Previous adult teaching experience or aproven ability to teach adults is also desirable.Asa kaupapa Maori organisation, your willingness to participate in culturalactivities and develop an understanding of Ahuatanga Maori (values, culture andtikanga) will be key.Tonoa i tenei ra!
