Manulife Investment Management Timberland and Agriculture (Australasia) Pty Limited ("MIMTA (AU)") is an investment management services business that manages timberland and agricultural assets across Australia and New Zealand. MIMTA (AU) has three 100% owned subsidiaries and a 50% interest in AVA Timber, an export joint venture. One subsidiary, Manulife Investment Management Forest Management (NZ) Limited (MFM (NZ)) is based in New Zealand and manages over 200,000 hectares of timberland estates on behalf of three clients. The other two entities, Manulife Investment Management Agriculture Services (AU) Pty Limited (MAS (AU)) and Manulife Investment Management Farmland Services (AU) Pty Limited (MFS (AU)) are based in Australia and manage agricultural investments.
The Role
Preferably based in Tauranga and reporting to our Director and Controller Timber & Agriculture, this role will support the completion of the MIMTA (AU) financial accounting, reporting, and control functions across our Australian and New Zealand entities. This includes taxation compliance and reporting, oversight of treasury and cash flows/debt facilities for clients along with forecasting and budgeting activities. These tasks are to be performed in a team environment involving the property management accounting teams in Tauranga, New Zealand, and Australia along with North American-based representatives.

What We're Looking For
To be considered, you will be a Chartered Accountant with a strong financial accounting background and a focus on accuracy and attention to detail, ideally with exposure to large institutional entities. In addition, you will have a good understanding of New Zealand and Australian tax laws and tax governance. You will be able to articulate yourself well with strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills in a wide variety of situations. As this role will also interact with operational finance team members and senior management, we are also seeking great communication and relationship management skills so you can connect with a wide variety of teams worldwide. We want to find someone who can drive efficiency and works with integrity. For the right candidate, we would consider part-time hours, such as 32 – 36 hours per week. Some flexibility with out of hours work may be needed to allow for different time zones. Only those with current legal rights to work in New Zealand will be considered.
