Hostel Supervisor – La Salle House, Francis Douglas Memorial College, New Plymouth
Francis Douglas Memorial College (FDMC) is a state integrated Catholic boys' day and boarding school located within the city of New Plymouth with students ranging from Years 7 to 13. La Salle House is the hostel of FDMC and is located on the school site. La Salle House plays a key role in the college community, offering a supportive and enriching boarding environment that encourages students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Boarding is a central aspect of life at the College, with our La Salle House community instilling a strong sense of brotherhood and belonging.
We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Hostel Supervisor to join our Hostel Team.
Position: Full time, fixed term position
The Hostel Supervisor will work closely with the Director of Boarding to ensure a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for our boarding students. The role's primary focus is supporting teenage boys, helping them navigate their daily routines, and addressing their individual needs. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will engage regularly with staff, students, and parents to foster a collaborative and supportive community.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide pastoral support to students, offering guidance and assistance as needed.
Maintain a safe and well-organised living environment within La Salle House.
Support students' wellbeing, helping them balance academic, social, and personal responsibilities.
Communicate effectively with parents and staff to ensure a cohesive approach to student care.
Assist with the smooth running of daily routines and hostel activities.
