About the role As a Homestay Co-ordinator you will co-ordinate the accommodation requirements for international learners and others wishing to access Homestay accommodation. You will ensure learners have a safe and engaging environment in which they can fully participate in their learning and our community while in Aotearoa. You will recruit, train and support homestay hosts ensuring processes align with The Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021 (CoP).The successful candidate will assist international students settle into life in Otepoti (Dunedin) through orientation programmes, student activities, student advocacy and support, and monitoring their progress and welfare. You will work closely with a number of key stakeholders within the organisation and overseas and you will regularly be dealing with homestay hosts and international learners and other members of the wider community on a daily basis. Ko wai koe | About youTo be successful you will be able to build and maintain effective relationships and provide a high level of customer service and administrative support.You will be able to demonstrate (or quickly learn) the following:· A broad understanding of global exchange experiences with people from diverse cultures· Ability to understand, co-ordinate and develop systems and processes · Experience in facilitating exchanges · Experience in providing sound advice and guidance · The ability to take high-level guidance and develop tangible action plans to achieve outcomes· Knowledge of visa and insurance requirements for incoming learners.· Knowledge and experience of a tertiary environment is desirable and/or experience with student management system software such as EBS, CRM would be desirable.· Essential is an understanding of and empathy for International Students with sensitivity to the different cultures religions and ethnicity. · Ability and experience to communicate effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, and enjoy relating to tertiary students and to people whose first language is not English.
