Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out inspections, running diagnostic tests, planning work to be done, ensuring work is completed, and using initiative in areas where they are the 'expert'. If you have excellent mechanical skills, and attention to detail, and are interested in providing quality mechanical service and repair to a wide range of diesel vehicles and heavy machinery, we encourage you to apply.
Key Responsibilities
Raise vehicles, machinery, and heavy parts using equipment provided.
Carry out visual inspections and make assessments of the work to be done.
Run diagnostic tests and analyse diagnostic test results.
Plan the work that is to be done and carry out the work, keeping the Supervisor or Workshop Manager informed of progress as well as any issues that may arise.
The role requires term members to work on their own initiative in areas where they are the 'experts'.
Arrange for materials and parts as required.
Complete job cards and required documentation to ensure that all time worked and materials used are entered against the job.
Ensure work is completed in a timely and efficient manner and meets customer expectations.
Ensure jobs are done once and done right!
Requirements
Trade qualified.Sound knowledge of diesel engines.Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.Good understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical systems, and basic engineering fabrication.Hold and maintain a current NZ driver's licence: Class/Endorsements 1.
Preferred
Class 5 driver's licenceAttention to detail.Excellent verbal communication skills.Excellent organisational skills.Good time management skills.Physically fit.Customer focus and a desire to meet and exceed customer expectations.Willingness to work overtime as required to get the job done.
To be eligible for this position you must have the legal right to work in NZ.
The successful candidate must pass drug, alcohol, and medical checks.
