About the role

This is a vibrant and dynamic ward that meets the needs of patients presenting with a full range of acute medical conditions. We pride ourselves on having a strong focus on customer service, and its success is reliant on effective communication and teamwork.

This role will see you primarily focusing your attention to the overall needs of the unit. This role is within a clinical environment, and as an exceptional team player you will need to be able to take instruction and direction from the nurses on the ward, whilst having a helpful and team-focused approach to making a real difference to the patients under our care.

As a Health Care Assistant, you will be involved in:

Supporting our nurses and other members of the health care team

Patient supervision and/or movement

Patient cares, as required

Stock reconciliation

Ward maintenance

Patient watch, with one-on-one care as required

About you

It is important that candidates are motivated, flexible, have a level of maturity about them and of course plenty of enthusiasm. Experience working with people in a caring capacity is also essential, whether that experience is gained from within a professional environment, or from caring for children or family members.

Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.

Experience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.

Salary range

This role is covered by the terms and conditions of the NZNO CEA and the salary will be in accordance with the Health Care Assistant Pay Scale, between $60,100 and $70,358 p.a pro rata depending on relevant experience.
