Scots College is committed to the normalisation of Te Reo Maori in each of its three schools i.e. Junior (1-6), Middle (7-10) and Senior (11-13). The College also offers the new NCEA Te Ao Haka programme at NCEA Levels 2 and 3. To that end, Scots College has scheduled timetabled lessons to the programme, rather than an extracurricular kapa haka group. All Scots College students learn and perform kapa haka through the house system. Their learning is celebrated at the annual Scots College haka competition.

This role involves working in conjunction with our current Te Reo teachers to work with our akonga, whanau and iwi. Please state all teaching subjects in your application. This role also includes teaching Te Reo Maori in the Middle School of the College. Scots College delivers all its language programmes through the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme framework. Future goals include delivering NCEA Te Reo Maori at Levels 2 and 3 and the IB Diploma Language and Culture course to embrace Te Ao Maori.

A current NZ Teaching Council practicing certificate
A passion for, and the ability to promote Te Reo/Te Ao Haka in the College
Superior communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent organisational and time management skills
A desire to foster excellence and promote learning
A commitment to our special character and co-curricular programs
If you are motivated by the prospect of joining a dynamic teaching environment and would enjoy the challenges of this exciting role, then we would be delighted to hear from you.
