Further store openings are planned.About the roleAs Head of Legal for JB Hi-Fi NZ, you will be integral part of the senior leadership group for the NZ business, and be responsible for ensuring that risk and commerciality are well balanced, and operations are compliant with relevant legislation.
Reporting to the Group General Counsel in Melbourne, and with a dotted line report to the Managing Director of the JB Hi-Fi NZ business, you will provide day to day legal advice to the NZ business on a diverse range of operational and strategic matters, while also assisting the Australian legal team to support the Australia business.
The remit of legal work is diverse and interesting and includes contract drafting and negotiation, consumer law, privacy, intellectual property, corporate transactions, disputes & litigation, company secretarial/governance support and legal compliance matters.You will have confidence to work with autonomy and self-drive, managing priorities and expectations, while also having the support of, and development opportunities with the wider Australian legal team.What we are looking for:Qualified lawyer with NZ practising certificate (or eligibility to hold one)A minimum of 8 years' PQE with a background in corporate and commercial law gained in private practice or in-houseSound analytical and contract drafting/negotiation skillsExperience advising on consumer law mattersThe ability to provide pragmatic advice in a commercial contextExcellent communication skills and ability to convey advice in a professional and easily understood way whilst building relationships of trust and confidenceAn adaptable mindset with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and changing environmentA proactive and positive working style with enthusiasm and curiosity.This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic company and growing NZ business at an exciting time and enhance your leadership skills in a high performing, collaborative team!
