We create exceptional student-centred learning experiences in studio environments underpinned by knowledge of matauranga Maori, and new and emergent technologies.This role will lead the Industrial - Product Design Major lecturing team and is an opportunity to facilitate optimum learning environments for students, engage in high-quality teaching and supervision, and contribute to the evolving School research culture. You will assume responsibility for the leadership, co-ordination and delivery of our Industrial - Product Design courses. We embrace practice-led, as well as research-informed, approaches to teaching - delivering innovative design studio and theory learning where the student experience is optimised. There is genuinely positive energy within the School and we offer an excellent research environment, with research support. The Faculty also offers a variety of contestable research funds.We are seeking applicants with interests in the contemporary aspects of Industrial - Product design and expertise in design research methodologies; previous leadership and lecturing experience delivering innovative design studio and theory learning and teaching is an advantage.You will be capable of leading a small academic team, developing appropriate curriculum and teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Previous leadership experience at department, school and Faculty level is desirable.A collaborative, open and engaging attitude that is flexible to School requirements is essential. Capability to lead and support the department on its Te Tiriti journey.Further Information:Start Date: Early-2025 (to be agreed with the successful candidate).Term: The successful candidate will secure a 3-year secondment to the role of Head of Department (with potential for further extension) and a permanent appointment as a senior academic.Salary: Aligned with the appropriate step in AUT's academic pay scales (ranges all in NZD - Senior Lecturer $109,051 - $128,559; Associate Professor $142, 835 - $165,369; Professor: $156,354 - $201,425).
