The role
We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Hazard and Risk Management Scientist to join our team. As a Hazard and Risk Management Scientist, you will contribute to social science research across a variety of natural hazard and risk science areas using qualitative and/or quantitative methods. You will communicate and collaborate with diverse stakeholders to develop projects and products that help strengthen societal resilience to natural hazards.
Responsibilities
Your primary responsibilities will be to:
Design and carry out social science research related to natural hazards and risks
Support development of products to communicate science advice
Contribute to management of research project delivery, teams, and budgets
Engage with stakeholders and communities
About you
The ideal candidate will have:
Expertise in social science methods and theories
Earth science and/or emergency management experience

This is a permanent, full time (38 hours per week) role and is based at our campus in Avalon, Lower Hutt, or at one of our sites in Auckland, Wairakei, or Dunedin.
The expected salary range for this position is between $107,130 to $136,300 depending on the successful candidate's experience.
