A warm Pacific greeting to GPs from The Fono ("the gathering place"). Our GPs are supported by a unique in-house Integrated Model of Care. High-quality primary health facilities with outreach, mental health clinicians, dental services, public health services (including Well Child, Family Start, screening, etc.), family assistance, and social services. All in-house. Along with a collegial atmosphere amongst GP, nursing, and other clinical professionals.
"Very manageable workload (compared to NHS)"
"15 min appointments / tea breaks and paid admin time"
"No QOF!"
"0830-1700 Mon to Fri - but flexible"
"In-house psychiatry, psychology, and counselling available with very short wait times for appointments. This is an amazing advantage, it really makes a huge difference to me."
"Opportunities to develop areas of your career of specialist interests seeing as we are in a major city and have a wide array of specialities and GPSIs available locally."
"The location, having the Hauraki gulf right there and all the coastline with so many opportunities while also being in one of the country's leading cities."
The Fono has 4 Health Care Centres amongst our 9 locations across the "city of sails" bounded by two harbours and the island-studded Hauraki Gulf. Temperate climate (average 22-23°C summer / 15-16°C winter). It's about lifestyle and work-life balance for our GPs. The vibrant Auckland region has abundant places of interest: beaches, parks, culture, food options, and friendly people. And just short flights to the other great places in New Zealand, including sub-tropical Northland, and the truly spectacular beauty of the South Island. If that's not enough, for short breaks, all the South Pacific Islands are readily accessible along with Australia.
