Position Overview:We are seeking a positive, collaborative, and student-centred Girls' Boarding Housemaster. This role is pivotal in ensuring that students feel supported, valued, and encouraged to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally within a warm, inclusive environment. The Housemaster will work closely with students, staff, and parents to promote wellbeing and uphold high standards of behaviour and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities:Pastoral Care: Provide dedicated pastoral support, monitoring students' wellbeing and personal growth.Daily Oversight: Manage the daily routines and activities of students, ensuring a structured and nurturing environment.Community Building: Cultivate a strong sense of community through House meetings, events, and engaging social functions.Student Development: Support students' academic, co-curricular, and personal achievements, working alongside staff for a holistic approach to growth.College Standards: Enforce school rules and uphold the College's values, maintaining parity with other Houses.Administrative Duties: Manage House accounts, maintain student files, and ensure clear communication with parents and staff.Health and Safety: Follow College Health and Safety guidelines to ensure a safe living and learning environment.Spiritual Engagement: Support Chapel life and encourage students' participation in Christian service and duty.Expected Outcomes:Students feel valued, supported, and encouraged within the House.House standards, including dress and behaviour codes, are maintained.Files and records are accurate, up-to-date, and accessible.Effective communication with parents and staff on issues related to student welfare.A cohesive and supportive House atmosphere that aligns with King's College standards.Qualifications and Experience:Experience in a pastoral care role within an educational setting, ideally in a secondary school.Empathy, patience, and strong communication skills.Ability to inspire and connect with students, staff, and parents.A bachelor's degree and current NZ registration with the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand.Organisational and problem-solving skills, with the initiative to improve processes and introduce new ideas.Requirements:Applicants must have the legal right to work in New Zealand and will be subject to vetting under the Vulnerable Children Act.
