About the Role We are seeking a General Surgeon to join our Surgical team on a full-time permanent basis. We are looking for a surgeon who demonstrates a commitment to high quality care, collegiality, teamwork, teaching and leadership in the field. The successful candidate will manage a wide range of General Surgical conditions and be expected to fully participate in the General Surgical on call roster (1:10) and manage acute patients. An experienced endoscopist for both upper and lower gastrointestinal procedures would be an advantage. Interest or post-fellowship training in Trauma or Breast would be an advantage.
About the Team/Service/ Location The General Surgical and Vascular team is part of a close knit and supportive medical community within the Hawke's Bay district. Our team is committed to providing a high quality of care to the Hawke's Bay population. There is a strong collegial attitude, supportive teamwork and active commitments to ongoing education and service improvements. We are a department of ten General Surgeons plus a Vascular Surgeon, working alongside our junior medical staff and clinical nurse specialists.
About you Applicants should have the following qualifications and attributes:
Be registered, or eligible for registration, with the New Zealand Medical Council as a Specialist General Surgeon and a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, or equivalent.Hold an approved higher qualification in Surgery, enabling Vocational Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.Experience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.How to Apply To view the position description click HERE and to apply for the role please click "apply now."
