Our General Manager – Waters is a pivotal role in the organisation – setting direction, developing our people, and facilitating performance to deliver the best results for the Whangarei District. As a member of the Strategic Leadership Team, working together to implement the strategies and policies of the Council, this newly created role reports directly to the Chief Executive and is specifically responsible for water infrastructure projects, wastewater, the laboratory, stormwater, flooding, and coastal and water services.
Each role in the Leadership Team has a focus on the future and is tasked with ensuring long and short-term objectives are met. The water industry is going through significant change, and we are looking for someone that can lead our waters team through this period and into the future.
Exceptional people skills are a must for this role to collaboratively shape and influence our people in meeting our organisational objectives. In an ever-increasing dynamic environment, the Council recognises its obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi and has forums that acknowledge these obligations. The strategic leadership portfolio requires sound judgement and commitment to the organisation and community as a whole.
Along with strategic leadership experience and strong interpersonal abilities, you will bring perspective, influence, and transformative expertise.
