General Cardiology Consultant Opportunity In Whangarei

Details of the offer

Permanent, full-time Consultant role Whangarei, Northland New Zealand Join a growing team and service We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated General Cardiologist to provide inpatient and outpatient cardiology care across the Northland region. Based in Whangarei, this role will involve travelling to and working from our rural hospitals as needed. Whangarei is the largest hospital in Northland, providing secondary care services across the region and supported by four rural hospitals in Dargaville, Kaitaia, Rawene and the Bay of Islands. There is a proposed on-call requirement for general cardiology supported by a cardiology registrar. In addition, there is an approved cardiology advanced trainee position. Whangarei has an on-site cardiac catheter lab performing coronary intervention, cardiac MRI and CT, echo (including TOE and stress echo) and well-developed heart failure and cardiac rehab services. Pacing/device clinics based in Whangarei cover the region but currently implants are undertaken in Auckland. As a General Cardiologist, you will join a small but close-knit team dedicated to their patients. You will collaborate with the Clinical Lead and Clinical Director to ensure your knowledge and skills are consistently developed. Our expectation is that you will bring your specialist experience and embrace the challenges involved in developing the service to its maximum potential. We want a motivated team player that is patient-focused to play a key part in the continued development of a re-invigorated cardiology service. You will be able to make meaningful decisions and improve access to specialist cardiac care for a region that has historically been underserved. To be considered, you must have or be eligible for vocational registration in Internal Medicine (Cardiology) scope of practice with the Medical Council of NZ. Essential to this role is general cardiology experience and competency in echocardiography including TOE. Those with pacemaker implant skills and knowledge would be encouraged to apply as this would be considered advantageous. We offer a competitive relocation package to support you and your family to make the move to Whangarei. If you are interested in this opportunity, please apply online and attach an up-to-date copy of your CV for consideration.
