Are you a Gastroenterologist looking for a change and a 12-month fixed term opportunity? Our Gastroenterology team is looking to recruit a Gastroenterologist to cover leave – commencing as soon as possible. This fixed term position is full time (1 FTE). The Gastroenterology Department at Palmerston North, New Zealand, serves the university town of Palmerston North, and the Manawatu district. We provide quality outpatient gastroscopy and colonoscopy, ERCP, liver elastography, outpatient clinical care, inpatient gastroenterology care and bowel cancer screening services to the 180,000 people in our district. We are affiliated to the University of Otago, have a training gastroenterology registrar in our department, and have a research relationship with Massey University. This environment provides excellent opportunity for both teaching and research. This position is based at Palmerston North, which has a 350-bed hospital, a city in the Lower North Island of New Zealand. The hospital is a secondary hospital and offers most medical and surgical specialties with the exception of Cardiothoracic, Plastic and Neurosurgery. The hospital serves a local population of 180,000 but is the base for a regional head and neck oncology service which has responsibility for a population of 550,000 and draws patients from Whanganui, Taranaki, and Hawke's Bay. The collegial relationships between departments are strong and consultation with other consultants is easy, either formally with multidisciplinary meetings or informally as required. There is an active postgraduate medical society and there are excellent clinical library facilities. Our team actively encourages work-life balance and the region is ideally situated for those who like to work, rest and play – beaches close by, ski fields and wineries just up the road, stunning scenery with loads of hiking tracks including Te Arapuke Mountain bike track. Our region also offers excellent schools and a local university. If you are interested in this position, you will need to be eligible for Locum Tenens registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Only doctors who have completed their training in either the UK (with CCT / CCST), the United States (with American Board Certification), Canada (with FRCPC), or Australasia can be considered. Please apply online and attach an up-to-date copy of your CV for consideration. #J-18808-Ljbffr
