Job Description SGS Business Assurance New Zealand (NZ) offers a range of services for the forestry, timber and paper industries throughout NZ including FSC Chain of Custody and PEFC Forest Management Certification. As a Forestry Auditor you will be responsible for planning and conducting on-site audits, completing reports, delivering findings and making recommendations for certification decisions. Key Responsibilities: Undertake FSC / PEFC Chain of Custody (COC), FSC /PEFC and Forestry Management auditing services as required to SGS forestry, timber, and paper industry sector clients in accordance with relevant program, client and/or SGS requirements. Prepare assessment reports and deliver findings to clients to ensure client understanding of the assessment decision and clear direction to particular items of corrective action where appropriate. Recommend the issue, re-issue or withdrawal of certificates, and report recommendations in accordance with SGS policy, procedures and prescribed time frame. Lead assessment/audit teams as required ensuring that team members are adequately briefed so that quality of service is maintained. Establish and foster effective professional client relationships. Qualifications Qualified as a Chain of Custody Lead Auditor or Forest Management Lead Auditor with experience auditing for a Certification Body is desirable but not essential. Have experience (or as a minimum an understanding) of Chain of Custody, Controlled Wood, FSC and PEFC. Tertiary qualifications in Forestry and/or Forest Engineering/Environmental preferred or at least minimum 4 years full time experience in Forestry or a related Industry. Demonstrated Forestry industry experience would need to meet SGS, FSC and/or PEFC auditor qualification requirements, as appropriate. Ideally have experience in auditing and have (IRCA or equivalent) Lead Management Systems Auditor training and qualifications. Experience as Lead Auditor in conducting audits of other management systems (e.g. ISO 14001, ISO 19001, ISO 45001) would be an advantage, but is not essential.
