We are looking for a fixed-term teacher assistant to join our team in the Day School who is energised by supporting young people to become successful learners.
This fixed-term position will be until 14 July 2025 and is to cover a staff member on parental leave.
The teacher assistant role is Monday to Friday, 8.45am-12pm and 1pm-3pm, totaling 26.25 hours per week during term time only.
The successful applicant must have a driver's licence and be willing to undergo a police vet.
Other essentials are a willingness to work from a culturally responsive perspective, being a team player and engaging with Team Teach training provided by HRC.
The successful applicant will have strengths and experience in: Building relationships that are focused on supporting students (aged 8 – 16) to develop skills for learning.
Providing students in small classes (5–8 students) with support 1:1 and/or in small groups.
Relating with all kaiako as well as external stakeholders collaboratively where students are the centre of what we do.
Adapting plans at short notice in response to students' needs.
In return HRC Te Otu Matua offers: Competitive salary: $26-$30 per hour.
Starting rates are dependent on the qualifications and experience that the successful candidate brings.
Salary increases are annual.

A bit about HRC Te Otu Matua Located in Christchurch, HRC Te Otu Matua is a time-limited intervention for neurodiverse young people with complex behaviours such as ASD, intellectual impairments, specific learning disabilities, ADHD, FASD and trauma, as well as a range of similar presentations that may not have been diagnosed.
