An exciting full-time opportunity is available for a driven and dedicated Company Accountant to join a dynamic, NZX-listed property development company experiencing significant growth.
This role is ideal for a finance professional eager to broaden their expertise in a thriving business environment, with opportunities for future career progression. A strong understanding of the New Zealand residential and commercial property market, including leasing, is essential.
The primary focus is to lead and manage financial analysis, planning, and reporting to support business decision-making and ensure compliance with regulations. This role encompasses delivering timely financial reports, optimizing cash flow, managing audits, and enhancing financial processes across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily accounting and financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger reconciliations, and financial breakdowns for property sales and leasing margins.
Prepare accurate financial statements (income statements, balance sheets, cash flows) for month-end, half-year, and year-end, adhering to IFRS standards.
Ensure compliance with tax regulations (GST, FBT), coordinating with the payroll and finance teams.
Manage audit processes, including coordination with external auditors.
Assist the Development Management Team in budgeting, financial forecasting, cash flow management, and property acquisition financial modelling.
Provide financial insights and present recommendations to management, the Audit Committee, and the Board of Directors.
Contribute to process and systems improvements in accounting and financial reporting.
Qualifications & Experience:
Fully qualified CA/CPA.
Expertise in property development and investment accounting.
Experience in an NZX-listed company is a plus but not required.
Skills & Systems Knowledge:
Advanced Excel skills, including dashboard creation.
Proficiency in the MS Office suite.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
Ability to perform effectively under pressure.
Reporting:
Reports directly to the CEO, with visibility to the Board of Directors and sub-committees.
Collaborates closely with the Group Finance and payroll teams.
