Our services at Hospice Wairarapa are tailored to individual needs and include the practical, emotional, social, and spiritual aspects of wellbeing. We're on the hunt for a highly skilled and experienced Finance and HR Manager who can contribute to a fantastic team and positive work environment with the role ranging from administration level tasks to strategic decision making. Masterton/Wairarapa based Permanent role 0.8 or 1.0 FTE About the role The Finance and HR Manager ensures the smooth and effective administration and management of all financial, accounting, budgeting, contracts, and HR matters across every part of the organisation, including service delivery and retail. The Finance and HR Manager holds the position of 2IC and is part of the Leadership Team, supporting decision making and contributing to the strategic direction of the organisation. This is a small team so there are often many additional tasks to roll your sleeves up and get stuck into including grant writing, fundraising efforts and events and supporting the rest of the team when needed. What you will bring Management Accountant or demonstrated experience in management accounting. A minimum of five years in a management accounting or HR role. Financial acumen with a clear understanding of the financial impacts of business decisions, balancing organisational performance and financial outcomes. Experience developing, implementing, and managing organisational budgets. Demonstrated ability to analyse and explain complex financial information to support decision making. Demonstrated skills in developing and maintaining excellent processes and systems. Experience in the Social Sector and/or managing government contracts preferable. Experience in preparing for and completing audits and yearly performance reports preferable. Good understanding of Charities Commission requirements. Demonstrated ability to build open and constructive relationships across the whole organisation. Strong ability to make sound and timely decisions using analysis, data and personal experience. Proactive approach to problem solving and demonstrated ability to develop innovative solutions to problems. Key Responsibilities General accounting All invoicing, bank reconciliation and month end journals. Fixed Asset creation and monthly running of depreciation. Payment of PAYE and filing of GST Returns. Maintain all financial contracts. Ensure cash-flow for the organisation is adequately maintained. Plan, prepare and chair the Finance, Audit and Risk regular meetings. Manage ad-hoc financial projects when the need arises. Reporting, Audit and Year End Provide accurate and timely financial management reports, identifying key trends and significant budget variances to internal parties each month. Provide accurate and timely draft and final Group consolidated financial statements identifying key trends and significant items of note to internal parties each year. Provide other financial reports to internal/external parties when required. Prepare forecasts on the Hospice operating performance and position as the financial year progresses or when required. Provide operational and capital expenditure budgets to internal parties each year. Responsible for managing the annual external audit. Provision of all information required by Accountant to complete the Performance Report (Charities Commission Tier 3). Payroll Compliance with Employment Act Fortnightly PayHero payroll processing Application for all appropriate Government subsidies Budget Preparation of the annual budget and support each cost centre manager by providing information such as salary spreadsheets, sales information spreadsheets, analysis of prior year actual. Charities Commission Preparation and filing of Annual Return and maintaining Charities Commission records and updates. HR Partnering and Compliance Provide advice, coaching and support enabling people leaders to: Complete the full cycle of recruitment including on boarding and induction. Assist in building cohesive, high performing teams across the organisation. Manage and resolve employment relationship issues. Conduct effective, thorough and objective employment investigations. Plan and implement workplace change projects. Maintain ER compliance across the business, including employment agreements. Maintain knowledge of legal requirements, ensuring regulatory compliance. Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies, procedures and systems. Provide guidance and interpretation of legislation. Work with a mindset of continual improvement regarding process, ensuring ongoing efficiency. Role model and promote excellent culture and engagement within the organisation. Demonstrate understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi and its principles, and integrates this in practice. Demonstrates and reflects the ability to integrate the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi in practice. Is aware of protocols and practices when working with Maori. Is able to develop partnerships with Maori health providers to contribute to cultural safety in the workplace. Has an awareness and will respond appropriately to individual needs. In addition to these responsibilities, it is expected that all Hospice Wairarapa employees will have a high level of communication and conflict management skills and be able to work through difficult conversations with a high level of integrity and professionalism. Understanding of, or a commitment to learning about Te Ao Maori and Maori tikanga is expected. Applications for this role close on Friday the 18th of September.
