We are also diversifying our activities through service development and other growth strategies and evolving a new operating model.About the roleWith offices in Christchurch and Wellington, we would preferably like this role to be based in Christchurch but will also consider a Wellington location for the right candidate.Reporting to the Chief Corporate Services Officer, this is an exciting new senior finance role. Its primary purpose is to successfully lead UniMed's finance operations and team. This includes the development and implementation of financial, pricing and investment strategies to meet capital and operating requirements for the Society and, where needed, its subsidiaries.The role also maintains and monitors financial metrics and control systems designed to mitigate financial risk, meet finance-related regulatory requirements, preserve UniMed's assets and report accurate financial results.As well as providing team leadership, the Finance Director will be a subject matter expert adviser to the Chief Corporate Services Officer and Chief Executive Officer. They will also work collaboratively with the wider leadership team to shape and deliver UniMed's goals around financial performance.About youWe are seeking a highly experienced senior finance executive who has worked extensively in corporate businesses, preferably finance/insurance based, and led teams of finance professionals. You will have a passion for effective people leadership and display the right attitude and behaviours aligned to our values. In addition, you will:Be a Chartered Accountant with tertiary qualifications in finance or business or a relevant discipline.Have prior senior leadership experience in finance and investment management roles, ideally in the insurance sector.Be proactive and confident with a strong track record of delivering business results.Be commercially astute with sound judgment and integrity.Possess excellent financial and analytical skills and attention to detail.Have a good understanding of regulatory reporting requirements and relevant accounting standards, including IFRS17.Have a sound understanding of Governance best practice.Hold strong interpersonal, communication, influencing and negotiation skills.Show proven experience leading and motivating high performance teams.Have expertise in coaching financial management skills in others.Meet the Fit & Proper requirements of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand and the Financial Markets Authority.Does this sound like you?
