ROLE PURPOSE
The Finance/HR Manager is the key person responsible for the day-to-day management of the organisation's financial and HR activities. A core accountability is financial management reporting to the Business Manager and to funding and agencies.
HOURS OF WORK
This is a fixed term, part-time position (20 hours).
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Management of the financial activities of the organisation Oversight and review of monthly financial reports.
Maintain Autism New Zealand's management accounting systems and processes.
Oversight and review of financial records for year-end audit.
Oversight and review of monthly reconciliations.
Oversight of all finance work, including payroll.
Management and completion of funding applications, accountabilities and contractual reporting on time.
Ensure issues or budget variances are highlighted to the Business Manager.

Management of HR activities of the organisation Manage and completion of the day-to-day HR processes and coordination.
Oversight of contracted in HR administration.
Assist the Business Manager with the development of HR policies.
Manage the day-to-day health and safety requirements.

Team management Manage the finance team effectively according to organisation policies and procedures.
Recruit and induct staff in conjunction with the Business Manager.
Provide training opportunities for the finance team based on identified staff need with the approval of the Business Manager.
Supervise and evaluate direct report staff.
Promptly report any significant issues to the Business Manager.

Administration Follow delegation policy of Board.
Authorise payments or delegate signing authority.

Professional development and training Participate in training and professional development opportunities as required, and within budget.
Professional development completed on time and to the standards as required for the role.
Tertiary qualification in Accountancy and is preferably Chartered Accountant.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Knowledge, skills and experience
Experience in management accounting
Knowledge of MYOB EXO
Knowledge of payroll systems
Methodical and systems oriented
Competent in the suite of Microsoft Office applications
Experience in managing staff
Effective organisational and prioritising skills
Excellent time-management and project management skills
Excellent communication and relationship skills – the ability to relate well to a wide range of people: staff, families, teachers, agencies, professionals, grant funders and suppliers
Able to handle information sensitively and confidentially
Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Linking the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi to all aspects of service provision and the operations of Autism New Zealand.
