We are carers for Northland's environment and community. Are you one of us?The opportunity awaits…We have multiple casual opportunities available over the coming summer months.This coming summer we are stepping up our compliance role and are looking for several motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join the team as casual Environmental Monitoring Officers. You will be working out on the water and in the community in Mimiwhangata and Rakaumangamanga (Bay of Islands) to educate the public on the Te Ha o Tangaroa marine protection rules.You will work in partnership with mana whenua and with input from council's Coastal and Land Compliance team. You will be responsible for carrying out on-water inspections of the Rahui Tapu (vessel and skipper provided), gathering and recording information, and assisting with enforcement of non-compliance (where required).These are casual positions as and when required, most days of work will fall on weekends and throughout the summer and public holidays so please only apply if this will suit you. You will be provided with full (paid) training in late September, with the roles scheduled to start from October and run over the summer and autumn months.To be successful in this role you will have basic swimming abilities and demonstrated understanding and/or experience in working with tangata whenua, the general public, and other stakeholders.
