Job Description:
The Woodburn Police Department is hiring Entry Level Police Officers to perform law enforcement duties, including responding to incidents, patrolling assigned areas, enforcing laws, making arrests, preserving crime scenes, and community policing in diverse neighborhoods. Officers may also be assigned to specialized units within the department.
Minimum Qualifications:
At least 21 years old at the time of hire.
U.S. Citizen or ability to become one within 18 months of hire.
Must pass reading comprehension, writing skills, physical/vision, hearing, psychological exams, background check, and drug testing.
Ability to work overtime and various shifts, including holidays and weekends.
High School Diploma or GED.
Ability to complete department recruit training and gain eligibility for the Basic Certificate from the Oregon Board of Public Safety Standards and Training (must pass the ORPAT within required time frames).
Valid Oregon Class C driver's license or out-of-state equivalent with an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingual in Spanish/English or Russian/English.
Post-secondary education in criminal justice, public/business administration, sociology, psychology, or a related field.
Completed and current ORPAT/PAT/Military Physical Fitness results.
Hiring Process:
Complete the City job application.
Complete the NTN testing through the National Testing Network. Existing valid tests within 12 months of application are accepted.
If submitting an ORPAT score, schedule the test or submit an existing score (must be within 12 months of application).
Finalists will undergo a background investigation, medical and psychological assessments, and drug testing. The City of Woodburn is a drug-free workplace, including marijuana.
