Permanent, Part-time 64 hours per fortnight (0.8 FTE) Our awesome team of Emergency Medicine Physicians in ED at the Hawkes Bay Fallen Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, are looking for an awesome ED Physician.
Hawke's Bay Hospital is an increasingly innovative organisation providing opportunities to make a difference to patients and to the wider health sector.
Our Emergency Medicine Physicians have high clinical profiles within the department and are committed to the delivery of high-quality medical care.
There are opportunities to be involved in hospital wide initiatives to improve emergency care and the patient experience.
The Department offers the opportunity for a wide range of clinical interests and support for research and governance.
The Emergency Department sees presentations of over 50,000 per annum.
We currently have a team of 16 Emergency Physicians, 15 registrars and 15 House Officers.
We have ACEM accreditation for 24 months of training in Emergency Medicine.
The department has a strong commitment to the teaching of both trainees and final year medical students from the University of Otago.
Our patient mix is diverse and a majority of patients are of high acuity and frequently have late presentations.
The department receives around 100 major trauma ISS >12 presentations per year.
We have active ED ultrasound and we have ready access to a comprehensive diagnostic radiology service, including CT, MRI, Angiography and Nuclear Medicine.
Hawke's Bay Hospital is a 330-bed accredited facility providing acute and elective care for the Hawke's Bay region (a population of 175,000 people).
The full spectrum of services is provided onsite except for Neurosurgery, Cardiothoracic and Plastics.
There is excellent support from an enthusiastic Intensive care and Anaesthetic team.
The Regional hospital in Hastings also has links to the rural services in Wairoa and Waipukurau.
Applicants must be registered or eligible for registration, with the New Zealand Medical Council as an Emergency Medicine Physician.
