We are seeking Emergency Medicine Registrars for Hawke's Bay District Health Board who shares our values ofHe kauanuanu -Respect,Akina -Improvement,Raranga te tira -Teamwork andTauwhiro- Care.
Applications are invited for the position of Emergency Medicine Registrar commencing June 2020. The Emergency Department offer supportive working conditions and are committed to excellent teaching.
Our District Health Board is large enough to provide variety and depth of work experience, with good support and supervision, yet small enough to be a friendly team with good social interaction. Hawke's Bay Hospital is a 400 bed hospital providing acute and elective care for the Hawke's Bay region. We have strengthening Primary and Community health services and an increasingly integrated approach to health and health care.
The Emergency Department sees 46,000 attendances a year, with a 30% admission rate. The general patient acuity is high and we see a significant amount of major trauma. The Emergency Department runs 4 observation unit beds. You will join a team of 9 Emergency Physicians, 14 Registrars, 8 House Officers and 4 Nurse Practitioners. We are accredited for Provisional and Advanced training (12 months) with the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine and offer a regular and protected teaching programme. There is the potential for suitably qualified advanced trainees to rotate through ICU, Paediatrics or Medicine for 6 months each, all of which are able to be accredited as non-ED advanced training.
Ideal applicants should be PGY3 and above and have completed at least a six month placement working in an Emergency Department at Registrar level.
Hawke's Bay is on the East Coast of the North Island of New Zealand and is famous for a warm and sunny climate, fine wine and Art Deco architecture. We are big enough to offer variety, challenge, quality learning and development opportunities and collegial support. At the same time we are small enough that friendships flourish and we take your work/leisure life balance seriously.
You won't find this opportunity just anywhere, and when you combine this with the chance to live in New Zealand's own piece of paradise, you have to ask yourself "why work anywhere else"? Take a stroll through the Hawke's Bay Tourism website and get yourself to Hawke's Bay!
