Your Title: Electronic Engineer Job Location: Christchurch, NZ Our Department: Trimble Field Systems Does a role where you can design the electrical and electronic aspects for new handheld hardware products, working with a range of technologies like GNSS, BT, WLAN, etc., excite you?
What You Will Do As an Electronic Engineer with Trimble, you will be responsible for working as part of a multi-disciplined team to take the electrical & electronic aspects of a product through the complete design cycle, from concept & requirements definition, design & test, to sustaining the product during manufacture.
Your role focuses on schematic, board design & product testing for mobile devices and relevant technologies (GNSS receivers, BT, WLAN, WWAN, batteries, MCUs).
You will combine hands-on work with the theory of design, by way of schematic capture, component selection, PCB layout guidance, & Design Verification Testing (DVT), and optimization of electronic equipment and hardware systems.
Other activities include technology research, development of schedules, support & testing of prototype builds, product release into Trimble's formal documentation system, and support for project New Product Introduction (NPI) processes.
This will involve: Review product requirements specifications & contribute to engineering specifications, system design architecture, and related project plans.
Implement detailed electrical design, component selection & schematic entry.
Responsible for electrical design quality according to international design and manufacturing best practices, including Design for Manufacture & Test (DFM, DFT).
Collaborate and implement PCB layout with CAD/PCB Engineer(s).
Support related project activities such as firmware/hardware integration bring-up, DFMEA, field testing, compliance, reliability, and HALT testing.
Support the successful transition of completed products to manufacturing through planning activities such as NPI (new product introduction) product builds, providing ECNs (Engineering Change Notices), contributes to writing test procedures and fixtures as required.
What skills & experience you should bring As well as possessing excellent attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication, a strong commitment to quality, persistence, and inquisitiveness, and the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment as a proven team player, you should be able to bring the following: BSEE, (Electrical & Electronics), (Mechatronics), or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Relevant knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures relating to electronics design, test, equipment/tools, product development.
5+ years of industry experience in a relevant Engineering design position.
Experience of delivery of innovative, cost effective, reliable products developed in collaboration with full cross functional teams.
Proficient user & understanding of electronic CAD systems, experience in Cadence Allegro for schematic capture and layout is desirable.
