New Zealand Steel, a wholly owned subsidiary of BlueScope, manufactures and markets a range of flat rolled steel products for the building, construction, manufacturing, and agricultural sectors. You may know us for our flagship COLORSTEEL brand.
What you will be doing
We are currently looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our team permanently. Reporting to the Ironmaking Maintenance Superintendent, you will maximize plant availability through the upkeep and ongoing performance improvements of the Ironmaking operational assets and ancillary equipment.
What you will bring to the role
Your heavy industrial engineering knowledge and experience along with analysis of equipment failure modes will be utilized to enhance our preventative maintenance strategies. You will also be developing and implementing End of Life strategy for aging equipment and overseeing equipment improvement and automation projects.
Our ideal candidate will be an energetic self-starter with an uncompromising attitude to safety. You'll also be a logical systems thinker with a natural aptitude for quick learning and getting the job done, excellent problem-solving skills, and an ability to contribute positively to a team environment.
In addition to being a qualified tradesperson or engineer, ideally, you will have experience in the following:
5+ years' experience in a heavy industry, ideally manufacturing.
Knowledgeable of RCM principles and their application.
Knowledgeable of SAP maintenance systems.
PLC programming and fault-finding.
Heavy Industrial maintenance in Electrical and Instrumentation Controls.
This is a day position, but applicants should be aware that there will be a requirement for some out-of-hours work to attend repairs and shut work when required.
