Where you'll be working : Thames Hospital
The details: Permanent full time position - 80 hours per fortnight rostered shifts over 7 days (1 FTE). This position could be split to a minimum of 2 people working 2 + 3 days per week.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Emergency Department Administrator to join our team. Thames ED is at the front entrance to the hospital so this role is an integral part of the hospital community. The role is busy and full of variety. Your role is to ensure the consumers and their whanau have a positive experience and that the clinical staff are supported.

Thames is a modernised 50 bed secondary hospital with an emergency department, inpatient unit, ambulatory surgery, outpatient clinics and rehabilitation services. It is classified as a rural hospital and is located at the foot of the beautiful Coromandel peninsula, with specialty services provided by our tertiary hospital Waikato. The hospital also provides laboratory and radiology services, including CT.
We pride ourselves on the provision of quality and patient focussed care and work in a true inter-disciplinary way with clinical and allied health team members. The hospital is an integral part of the community.

Key responsibilities of the role:
Provide accurate and efficient administration services to the ED/departments within Thames Hospital to enable the service to deliver quality outcomes for consumers.
Reception services – answering phones/greeting patients/clients front reception desk, computer entry into patient information systems, general reception duties.
Treating patients' clients with respect/dignity and compassion.
Comply with policies and procedures to ensure delivery of good quality care.
Supporting the wider administration team within Thames Hospital.

Required skills & experience you will need to be considered for this role:
Knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Excellent communication skills with a pleasant telephone manner.
Strong customer service focus.
Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment.
Well-developed clerical skills, previous health care administration experience would be an advantage.
Excellent time management and organisational skills.
Empathetic.
Quick to learn new systems.
Calm under pressure.
